Our Story

THE ORIGIN

In the heart of India, where the air still hums with the quiet poetry of the past, lies Kannauj—a town that smells of time itself. For over many centuries, its lanes have carried the whispers of flowers and the breath of ancient woods. And from this sacred soil, in the year 1818, began a journey—one drop of attar at a time.

Shri Ayodhya Prasad ji, a man with the scent of vision in his soul, founded a house of fragrance called Makhulal Ayodhya Prasad. He didn’t just trade in perfumes; he carried dreams in bullock carts from Kannauj to Kolkata, infusing them into every vial of oil he offered. His belief was simple yet profound: Attar is not made—it is born, through infusion, not blending. Flowers, woods, resins, and spices steeped patiently into base oils, over days and weeks, until the soul of each ingredient found its way into the heart of the attar. This is not chemistry—it is heritage. This is not a formula—it is a ritual.

Seven generations later, that same ritual continues. Now led by Divy and Shubham Gupta, the family’s seventh generation torchbearers, the house of fragrance has taken a new name—Raahi Parfums. Raahi, the traveller. Because every attar we craft is a journey—through seasons, through soil, through memory.

We don’t chase trends; we follow time. We don’t bottle scents; we preserve stories. At Raahi, we still use the traditional deg-bhapka distillation method, slow and silent, under the sky—just as our ancestors did. For us, attar making isn’t a business. It is a prayer. A family craft. A legacy passed not in documents, but in touch, scent, and silence.

THE CRAFTSMANSHIP

Rooted in tradition, Raahi Parfums transforms heritage into experience. Using the ancient deg-bhapka distillation method — slow, hand-done, and deeply intuitive — each fragrance is crafted with ethically sourced, native ingredients. These are not just perfumes — they are scented postcards from India, carrying warmth, memory, and craftsmanship in every drop.

Headquartered out of Kannauj - The Makhulal Ayodhya Prasad Group of companies, had three manufacturing units at Orissa, Hasayan and Kannauj. In the last two centuries, since 1818 we have produced countless products and  perfumery ingredients and some products have been on the market for over 120 years.
